Do you know what an immediate denture is?  Take a situation where front teeth have to be removed.  Following extraction, we do not want our patient to look toothless.  So we place an appliance called an immediate denture.  It replaces the missing teeth a few minutes after the extraction and the patient can function and look normal.  In many cases immediate dentures significantly improve the appearance of the patient.

Canker sores are common in children.  They are most common from about 4 to 9 years of age.  Never the less, they can occur in younger and older children.  They are painful and can prevent your child from eating and functioning normally.  There are several causes for canker sores and for the most part they are not contagious.  They generally last a few days and clear up spontaneously.  If they persist or recur frequently, then professional advice is required.

Treatment would include soft diet, keeping the area clean and sometimes even ice or popsicles may alleviate the associated discomfort.

In the past we attributed gum recession to either wrong brushing technique or using a hard brush or some repetitive trauma. Today we realize that it is likely to a be multifactorial condition or associated with those factors mentioned above and/or other conditions that may be disease related. Gum recession could be associated with other conditions such as stress. Often people who are under stress unconsciously clench and grind their teeth. So, stop stressing!!! If you cannot stop stressing ask your dental professional about options.
